<![CDATA[The Eagle-Tribune: Obituaries]]> (1)

Boxford - Harry John Zoglio Jr. (85) left a giant hole in the world on Sunday, February 18, 2024. He passed while in the home he proudly built in his little corner of the woods by the pond in West Boxford, Massachusetts. He was holding the hands of his youngest son and his wife of 65 years, Beverly, while listening to their song, "Eternally," on the music box he had commissioned for her decades before. In the days prior, his family and friends gathered and were blessed by his strong, sharp mind which he used to share final words of wisdom, many more stories of his life, but most of all bear testimony of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As he said his goodbyes, he wished us all well, "until we meet again."There are many accomplishments in Harry's life of which he can be very proud, but most important to him was his service to God, family and country.Harry joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to which he dedicated his life, at the age of 18 while serving in the U.S. Army in El Paso, Texas. He was later stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany, where he met his sweetheart, Beverly Ann Bloecker, daughter of Air Force pilot Walter (Sonny) and Martha (Jones) Bloecker. He is survived by 4 children, Mark Zoglio, Joseph Morgan (Karolyn), Kim Wierman Reid (the late Don Wierman, James Reid) and Eric Zoglio (Lori) and 7 grandchildren, Kyleigh Delos Reyes (Dariel), Joshua Wierman, Lucas Wierman, Samantha Silva (Otavio), Casey Wierman, Erika Zoglio, and Nicholas Zoglio, and great-granddaughter, Avril Delos Reyes, born two weeks earlier. He is also survived by his brother Eugene Zoglio (Tracey) whom he loved, admired and respected.Harry earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Master of Education degree from Salem State College. Throughout his career as a design engineer and business owner, he developed his natural aptitude for knowing or figuring out how things work and how to make them better. While working at Cape Canaveral, he was proud to say he helped to put the first man into space. He worked in the semiconductor industry having designed custom equipment still used in universities around the world. He retired from Avco/Textron after 20 years and later formed Boxford Designs, LLC where he consulted and continued developing, building and supporting proprietary equipment, never fully retiring.Harry was an enthusiast of European sports cars having restored many MGs, a Sunbeam Alpine, Alfa Romeo and Austin Healy. His latest project, a 1954 MG TF could be seen each July 4th in the Boxford parade, decked out in American flags and bunting, and loaded with grandchildren. He could also often be seen working in his hilltop garden or moving rocks around his property on his prized John Deere tractor – and yes, she thinks his tractor's as sexy as his cars. Harry also loved flying. After getting his pilot's license in his early 50's he and Beverly took many trips throughout New England, especially to Nantucket. He passed on his passion to many of his grandsons, who have also enjoyed their flying lessons.None of his hobbies or the ways he earned a living gave him as much joy as his service to his God and fellow beings. He ministered to many, sealed countless families on both sides of the veil in the Boston, Massachusetts Temple where he served from 2000-2024. He was a member of the Temple presidency and Sealer and bestowed a Patriarchal blessing upon hundreds of church members of the Exeter, New Hampshire stake. As Bishop of the Georgetown, Massachusetts congregation, he was respected for his wise counsel and loved by the children for always having Oreos in his desk drawer. He would tell us you cannot deny a member of the FBI (Fine Breed of Italians) food, but he would still fast and pray for the welfare of others.Born March 22, 1938, Harry honored his parents, Harry John Zoglio, Sr. and Anna Maria Capriole all the days of his life. He was beloved by his grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins who called him "Pace," the Italian word for peace. He will be missed by friends he embraced as family. There is a joyful reunion among many of his ancestors this day as they greet him, and when he reaches the arms of his loving Heavenly Father, he will surely hear the only words that matter to him: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the Georgetown Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 9 Jewett Street, Georgetown, Massachusetts. Services will be followed by an interment at the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, West Boxford, Massachusetts. To share a memory of Harry with his family, please visit www.cgfuneralhomegeorgetown.comThe Conte - Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown has been entrusted with Harry's care.

<![CDATA[The Eagle-Tribune: Obituaries]]> (20)

Sandown - Blaine Colin Wotring, "Dad", "Pop", "BC", "SGT" and sometimes "Fred", born 26 March 1942 in Allentown, PA, second son to Lee C. and Elizabeth E. (Markell) Wotring, passed on Friday, 21 April 2023 in Methuen, MA after a few long difficult months. In his youth, he loved fishing and racing (and repairing) Alpha Romeos with his brother, Terry. In his 20s, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and as an engineer spent his years readying F-4 Phantom I and II's prior to missions in Libya and the UK. With honorable discharge, he enrolled at the University of Connecticut (UCONN) and earned his baccalaureate in Electrical Engineering. There, he met Cheryl (Cook) Wotring, courting her for 8 years. His persistence paid off and they were married in July 1976, sharing 31 years together until her passing in June 2007. During that time, they had 3 daughters, and made their life in Watertown, CT, Ithaca, NY, North Andover, MA, eventually settling in Derry, NH in 1996. In February 2008, he married Sheila Duram, family friend and fellow UConn alum, whom he shared the last 15 contented retirement years in Sandown, NH, travelling in their red convertible as much as possible. In his adult career, he held high executive positions, but he was happiest and most successful innovating and inventing in a lab, as his basem*nt workbenches always reflected. He was issued several U.S. and international patents for innovations relative to heat sink fans and electronic cooling systems. His greatest invention, joy and source of pride, though, he would say, was his family. Quickly, the 3 became 6 as the daughters married, and he welcomed their husbands as sons. Then the 6 became 14 with the births of his 8 grandchildren in 5 years. With the family close in proximity, every occasion was ripe with laughter, joy, big bonfires, and Scotch. He had all the best qualities of a man with character: integrity, honesty, intelligence, wit, fortitude, gentleness, class. He offered sage counsel when asked, was a marvelous dancer, a sharp dresser, and was the most kind and caring father and grandfather. Blaine will be terribly missed by his survivors: Sheila (Duram) Wotring (wife), his (3) daughters, Elizabeth and Michael O'Neil of Londonderry, NH, Jennifer and David Medlock of Exeter, NH, Meredith and Eli Touma of Derry, NH, and his (8) grandchildren Sabrina, Jonathan, Sarah, Noelle, Heidi, Kathryn, Gwyneth, and Amanda, as well as his (3) step-children, Natalie, Dana and Michael Gee, (5) step-grandchildren and (3) step-greatgrandchildren. He is also survived by his older brother Terry Wotring of Plainville, CT, and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to visit Carrier Funeral Home, Windham, NH on Thursday, 27 April between 9 to 11 a.m. with service commencing at 11 a.m. Private interment will follow at a later date.

<![CDATA[The Eagle-Tribune: Obituaries]]> (24)

Groveland - Diane D. Wilson, 80, resident of Groveland MA, died on April 7 peacefully after a long battle with dementia. She was born on June 14, 1943, daughter of Howard and Beverly Dutton, in Randolph, Vermont.Diane spent most of her younger days in Haverhill, MA, growing up at the family home located at the Haverhill Airport where Howard operated the Dutton Flying Service. As a girl, her adventurous side was in full display as she attained her pilot's license at the age of 17 and completed her first solo. She had the best of teachers as her father Howard was the 1941 US Aerobatics champion. It is at the airport where she met her husband of 59 years, Ronald Wilson, who rented space in one of the hangers to work on his automobiles. A few years after marrying, Di and Ron settled in Groveland on King Street and at Whitestone Village. She was a woman of many interests. Her adventurous side showed again when waterskiing as a youngster and later while skiing and mountain climbing (including the Alps on one of her favorite trips). Other pursuits included bowling, gardening, knitting, and sharing Ron's love of cars (in her case it was convertibles).Di's penchant for wanting to help others led her to nursing school at the Burbank hospital in Fitchburg, MA. Upon graduating as an LPN, she began her career at Mass General scrubbing in for open heart surgeries. She then settled into her career at the old Haverhill Municipal "Hale" Hospital. She served faithfully in various roles for over 40 years including nurse manager and case manager. As an example of her hard work and dedication, while working full time and raising a family, Diane attained her bachelor's degree in nursing in 1989 from Bradford College after years of part time classwork.Later in life, Diane became "Mimi" to her beloved grandchildren, David and Catherine. She absolutely beamed any time she was with the kids. She and "Grampy" were thrilled to host the kids at their house on King Street, in the summer when the pool was open. She enjoyed the various family trips to Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard and never hesitated to join in the action with the grandkids whether riding the big slides, swimming in the waves or cruising in the go-karts. <![CDATA[The Eagle-Tribune: Obituaries]]> (25)

Groveland - Ronald J. Wilson, 85, resident of Groveland, died on December 2, peacefully surrounded by loving family.Ron was born on June 22, 1938, son of Shirley and Albert Wilson, in Barre Vermont.Ron was passionate about restoring, driving and most of all, talking about cars, most notably antiques. He had a knack for quickly identifying the year, make and model of all sorts of vehicles and was not afraid to get his hands dirty in a junk-yard to find that elusive, replacement part. A couple of favorites included a 1967 Mustang convertible which he restored and presented to his wife Diane as a 40th birthday present and a 1956 Ford Truck which he found in Texas and drove back to MA with lawn chairs for seats and holes in the floorboards you could see through. After the restoration, he beamed at the three on the tree transmission, the eight-track player and the camper on the back. He was a hot-rodder by heart and would enjoy his friends in the Haverhill area who worked in the auto industry. In addition to cars, he was an avid collector of coins, particular sliver dollars, as well as stamps, lionel trains, model cars and Roseville pottery.Ron spent his younger days in Ipswich, MA before moving to Haverhill and attending Haverhill High School. After high school, he honorably served his country in the Army including being stationed in Germany. His interest in cars lead him to rent space with friends in a hangar at the Dutton Airport in Haverhill, MA. There he met his loving wife of 59 years, Diane, who lived with her family at their home on the airport grounds. After spending a few years in Haverhill, Ron and Diane moved to King Street in Groveland for many years before settling into their condo in Whitestone Village, also in Groveland.Ron was a loyal employee for more than 40 years at Borden Chemical in North Andover, MA. Extremely handy and able to repair almost anything, he worked closely with the sales team to sell and service pallet wrap machines. This gave him the opportunity to travel across the U.S. He also assisted in activities in the quality assurance lab at the Borden facility. He thoroughly enjoyed the tennis matches at lunch during the summer and the weekly golf league. Throughout his life, Ron was always quick to lend a helping hand to family, friends and co-workers. Whether it took a pick-up truck, a trailer, some elbow grease or just some advice, he enjoyed being called upon and always delivered. Ironically, it was nearly impossible for Ron to accept help from others and he treated it as a badge of honor to pull things off by himself.Later in life, Ron became "Grampy" to his beloved grandchildren, David and Catherine. He and "Mimi" were thrilled to watch the kids at their house on King Street, in particular in the summer when the pool was open. He enjoyed the various family trips to Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard where he was the ultimate kite enthusiast and helped the kids locate crabs and jellyfish with their trusty nets. He and Mimi were regular attendees at sporting events, recitals and other events. When it came to gift giving, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren tirelessly open up boxes inside of boxes or tear apart layer upon layer of tape and twine to find the prize inside. The longer it took, the bigger his smile.Surviving members of his family include his beloved wife of 59 years Diane (Dutton) Wilson; his daughter Elizabeth Wilson of Groveland, MA; his son Dave Wilson and his wife Annie (Olsen) Wilson of Groveland, MA. He also leaves cherished grandchildren, Catherine Wilson and David Wilson, Jr. He is also survived by his loving brother Frank Wilson and his wife Janice, of Milton, MA and was known as Uncle Ronnie to many nieces and nephews.Ron is predeceased by his parents, Shirley (King) and Albert Wilson and stepfather Bill Hannah.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 6, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Later she earned a Master's degree in Education at Salem State University. She married her partner and love of her life Edmund James Wilson on July 2, 1966. This combination worked beautifully for over 57 years as Jean was the ballast to Ed's sails. They settled in Maine and Jean began working as a grade school teacher. Soon after they moved to New York City where she taught in Harlem. A job offer for Ed from Northwestern University propelled them to begin a new life in Glenview, Illinois. Jean grew to love life in the Midwest although she never really lost her New England accent and classic sense of style.Jean had two daughters, Katie Wilson Hill (Terry) and Karen Wilson Carioscia (Mike) and was blessed with 6 wonderful grandchildren, Laura Hill Kerr (Eric), Ryan Hill, Johnny Hill, Jenna Carioscia, Kevin Hill, and Matthew Carioscia. Jean was also lucky to have fantastic siblings, Pat Ambrose Miller and Jack Ambrose, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.Jean was an exemplary grandmother who was a frequent fan at all of her grandchildren's sporting events. She devoted her life to family and friends and was always loving, patient, loyal and helpful.Jean and Ed were avid travelers who truly covered the globe. They explored Europe, Egypt, South Africa, Asia and South America. Jean was always a welcomed addition to any party. She was an unflappable host who was able to pull off wonderful holiday meals despite the occasional curve ball Ed would throw with his last-minute invitations to host Northwestern students. Jean loved movies, reading, gardening, and was never one to turn down a vodka on the rocks with three blue cheese olives. She will be sorely missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.A Funeral Mass was held in Glenview, IL on Tuesday, October 3, 2023.In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the:Alzheimer's Foundation of America 322 8th Avenue, 16th FloorNew York, NY 10001(alzfdn.org)Info: donnellanfuneral.com or (847) 675-1990

Kingston - William D. Whitney, 89, died on April 18, 2024, at his camp overlooking Mendums Pond in Barrington, NH, after a two-year battle with prostrate and bone cancer. He was born on May 18, 1934, in Kingston, NH; the son of the late Louis and Elizabeth (Nason) Whitney.Bill graduated from Sanborn Seminary in Kingston, NH, with the class of 1952. He worked at the Western Electric Company in Andover, MA, as a machinist and mechanic, specializing in high vacuum systems, along with production line trouble shooting and repair. Bill also worked as a contractor, remodeling and building houses mostly in the Riverside and Rocks Village districts of Haverhill, MA. In addition, he was a dealer selling Polaris Snowmobiles in Kingston, NH. Bill was a founding member of the Millvale Snow Bounders snowmobile club. However, after retirement he became a "snowbird" spending winters in Sarasota, FL, with summers at the camp on Mendums Pond. While always a fan of a fast car, boat, motorcycle, snowmobile, or dragster - "Wild Bill's" lifelong passion was flying. Bill soloed and received his private pilot's license at age 16. Throughout his life he owned and flew a variety of vintage 1940's era single propeller driven aircraft, including a Piper J-3 Cub, Convair Stinson, North American Navion, and amphibious Republic RC-3 Seabee. Often Bill flew out of old cow pastures hemmed in with tall trees, which had been converted into local grass strip airports, with no runway lights or radios and perhaps a working windsock. Sometimes the cows would reclaim the field after he took off, but if he buzzed the field a few times, they would amble to the sides and let him land. Bill never made a landing he did not walk away from.In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his sister Phyllis Crowell, and brother Robert Whitney, both lifelong residents of Kingston, NH. He is survived by his son Mark Whitney of North Attleborough, MA; his son Eric Whitney of Princeville, on the island of Kauai, HI; his daughter Jeanne Whitney of Edwards, CO, in the Vail Valley; and four grandchildren.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2024, from 2 to 4 PM at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter Road (Rt. 108), Newmarket, NH. <![CDATA[The Eagle-Tribune: Obituaries]]> (38)

Bedford - Donald Richard White, 85, of Bedford, MA and formerly Groveland, MA passed away peacefully on March 20, 2024, at his home.He was born in Haverhill, MA on October 3, 1938, son of Maynard H. and Agnes L. (Akeroyd) White. In his final moments, the former University of Notre Dame quarterback called a "4th-and-1" goal line audible ... #6, his number. He leapt over the top of the line and soared mercifully into the Kingdom of God – scoring a final touchdown.Heaven's playground just got a lot more fun.Don grew up on Brookline Avenue in Haverhill and spent his youth playing sports at Walnut Square Elementary School. His father, Maynard, with legendary "working man's mitts," taught him the value of hard work; his mother, Agnes, a gregarious free spirit, gifted him his buoyant personality and infectious smile. Don went to Haverhill High School and was a three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and baseball. As a senior, he received The Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic honors for all three sports. In 1955, Don led the Haverhill "Hillies" to victory in the Massachusetts Football State Championships. He accepted a football scholarship to the University of Notre Dame where he played quarterback for the Fighting Irish from 1956 to 1960. His pride and passion for his alma mater was obvious until the end: wearing Notre Dame clothing and belting out rousing renditions of "Here Come the Irish" and "Wake Up the Echoes" were daily rituals. After graduating from Notre Dame, Don married Maureen Linnehan and they were blessed with four children, Geralyn, Kevin, Brian, and Christopher. Family and friends, teaching and coaching, food and fight songs were constants in Don's life. He loved coaching Little League baseball and driving his gold '72 Plymouth Sebring Plus with Arlo Guthrie's City of New Orleans, any Beatles song or Simon and Garfunkel song blasting from his 8-track player. In the "cooking arena" Don will always be remembered for his masterfully smoked turkeys, gourmet "Donnie Burgers," and his legendary football tailgates.Professionally, Don was a lifelong teacher (history, social studies, and current affairs) and coach (football, golf, and girls' softball) at Timberlane, Lynn Classical, and Belmont High Schools. He enjoyed developing relationships with his students which led to his perfecting Mrs. Manfredi's meatball recipe and two generations of dogs named Muzzi, after Dante Muzzioli, a student, coach, and friend.During his retirement, Don worked in many capacities at the Patriot Golf Course in Bedford, MA. His love of sport, community, and camaraderie made his work at Patriot a 20-year match made in heaven. Golfers referred to him lovingly as "Coach" and he cherished the many friendships he made from this partnership.Don and his wife Claire shared 42 years of marriage and many interests. They both loved clothes -- and Don became the family haberdasher and fashion critic. They also loved co*cktail hour and hors-d'oeuvres, home cooked meals, roaring fires in the winter, Maine beaches in the summer, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra.Don lived a wonderful life and was known by many names. His teammates at Notre Dame knew him as "Hot Dog." His students knew him as "Mighty Whitey", "Notre Dame Donnie," and "Don Juan." His players knew him as "Coach," and the outpouring of love from former players is testament to his character as a man, teacher, and coach. His grandchildren knew him as "Pappy" — they eagerly awaited his trademark bear-hug greeting and the annual White Family Whiffle Ball Game in Maine, when he masterfully pitched for both teams. His children called him "Dad."The thread that ties these nicknames together is people. Don White was a people person who thought everyone was "terrific," and people loved Don White. The most impactful lesson he taught his children was "The Human Touch Always Wins." May we embrace his legacy and aspire to touch as many lives as "Coach-Hot Dog-Pappy" Donald Richard White.Donald is survived by his loving wife, Claire E. Austin White and his four children, Geralyn A. Dreyfous of Salt Lake City, UT; Kevin D. White and his wife, Anne R. Giordano of Ridgefield, CT; Brian J. White and his wife Salli of Bowling Green, OH; and Christopher M. White and his wife Angel of Memphis, TN. He is also survived by his two brothers, Gerald P. "Gerry" White and his wife, Ann of Bradford, MA and Maynard C. "Chuck" White and his wife Darla of Jacksonville, FL. He was the loving Pappy to 10 grandchildren: John "Jake" Dreyfous, McKarah Dreyfous, Jarrett G. White, Aubrey G. White, Gavin G. White, Tessa G. White, Cassi White, Jackson White, Payton White and Riley White. Salem - Mary "Cathy" White, 81 of Salem, NH, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Holy Family Hospital, Methuen, MA. She was born in Haverhill, MA, the daughter of the late William A. and Anna R. (Neagle) Donovan.A graduate from Lawrence High School, class of 1959, Cathy soon married the love of her life Bill and selflessly provided guidance and support to Bill's younger siblings. Her best friend was her sister Judy in the best of times and in times of need. Their bond only grew stronger over the years. Her brothers John and Bill always brought a smile to her face. Cathy and Bill's journey quickly took them from Lawrence, MA, all the way north to Salem, NH. The legend of 4 Ridgeview was born. Cathy was destined to be a mother and she had four children prior to her sixth wedding anniversary, pushing the limits of Irish Twins. Being able to stay home full-time with her young children was very important to her. When the kids were settled in grammar school, Cathy and her loyal friend Carol Lira began talking about how they were going to fill the days with their children now at school. After a pit stop at Kealey Farms, Cathy and Carol took their talents to Purity Supreme. Little did they know, they were about to meet their forever friends known as the Purity Girls. Tuesday nights were put aside for family dinner at Cathy's, followed by ceramics at Ethel's.Cathy's #1 priority was family because, to her, home is where the heart is. No bigger event than Christmas Eve's Open House where ALL were welcome! Tremendous food and laughs were shared with family and friends followed by the famous game of Poop On Your Neighbor. Easter was another tradition hosted at Nana's filled with love and a special focus on the Easter egg hunt for her fifteen grandchildren. Let's talk turkey! On Thanksgiving the entire family sat in the same room to enjoy the feast prepared by Nana and from youngest to oldest tell the family what they were grateful for. Time to blow out the candles. Each grandchild took a special trip dining and shopping with Nana and Papa to celebrate their birthday.Cathy very much treasured her friendship with Carol and Lew Nagel. They spent countless nights watching the sunset on Little Island Pond, as well as in Cathy's backyard. They also took many vacations, including several stops to Las Vegas to try their luck on the slot machines. Bill and Lew seemed to always come up short when playing partners against Cathy and Carol in 45s.For better or worse, and in good times and bad, Cathy was a devoted wife, who provided unconditional love to her family and friends.Cathy was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, William H. White; her son, William J. White; her brothers, William Donovan and John Donovan; and her brother-in-law, Richard Danahy. She is survived by her sister, Judy Miele of Nashua, NH; daughter, Cathy Perreault and her husband Richard of Exeter, NH; sons, Stephen White and his wife Mary Beth of Salem, NH and Kevin White and his wife Amy of Newburyport, MA. She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.Visiting hours will be held Sunday, March 10, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Monday in St. Joseph Parish, 40 Main St., Salem, NH.
