If you read my last post - you know I had a pretty stressful last few days. This is one of the reasons I love where I live - I was able to sit on a beach and watch this for a few hours.Whatever your thing is - make it accessible to your life.My thing is the sky... clouds, stars, planets, aurora, sunrise/set, and so on.I find that when I fully unplug for a few hours looking at the ever-changing sky - I can focus - recentre. Yes - I had my phone, however, I couldn't even use it because it was doing the time-lapse.I simply sat - I needed this. #PSA. It's no secret that I'm not a fan of many things Apple does... but last night - their iPhone saved my daughters life with crash detection.I've mulled this post over in so many ways... and I feel I need to capture the moment as a father... not executive. We see so many promises of things that are going to enhance our lives... but they always seem so far out or buggy AF.My daughter was trapped in a flipped vehicle in remote Northern Ontario for 30 minutes until thankfully someone came along (my wife and I drove there last night and didn't see any other cars... just to illustrate the remoteness) and extracted her through the sunroof that was no longer there. They called 911 but didn't know where they were... Apple did and EMS was already deployed.Had that person not shown up ... my daughter may have been there for another 30-45 minutes ... hurt... with no heat in negative temperatures... but at least people were on there way.If she didn't have crash detection... and nobody travelled that night... she would most likely not be here today.Apple, I thank you... and all those that actually do build some tech for good. I thank the good Samaritans.I thank the durability of the Mini Cooper.I thank EMS most of all... as my family is still complete today. My daughter is alive and will make a full recovery. I have to give props where they are due.

Open Discussion about AR - good/bad/etcI usually use LinkedIn Audio - but a few asked if I could do video. I will set up a third-party stream for LinkedIn Live next time - but for now, join me on Google Meet. Link in the event for 2:30 EDT

A few weeks ago I posted my broken guitar. See comments for pic. I got it back last night and it sounds as good... if not better.Apparently it's now stronger than it was before it broke.I appreciate those that have skills to make, create, and fix. Thanks Brodie McGruer - a fellow creator - for applying skills to salvage in a vast throw away world.

I created the remote assistance tool with my team during lockdown for my mom and other family members... my mom is not tech-savvy - at all - but she was able to use this and I was able to use it to show her how to find things around our house when we were away, how to use our thermostat. We also used it for me to help her change her filter in her furnace without me having to drive a half hour for a 2-minute job. Last but not least - how to use her remote control!!!This is a very simple tool with a lot of passion behind it for making it connect fast, work fast, be able to send just a link - and have privacy top of mind. It will always be free for personal use... there is a business model - but it is available to all for free if not for business!WHelpCAST: The Smart, Safe, and Secure Way to Help or Get Help OnlineNote - this is the BETA release - iOS users: Use Chrome for now.HelpCAST is a tool that lets you help or get help from anyone online. You don’t need to sign up or download anything. You just need a link. You can choose from 3 options:Offer Help: Send a link to someone who needs your help. See what they see through their camera. Draw on their screen to show them what to do. It’s like you’re there with them.Request Help: Send a link to someone who can help you. Show them what you need through your camera. Follow their instructions on your screen. It’s like they’re there with you.Voice Only: Talk to someone who can listen and support you. You don’t have to show your face or tell your name. It’s completely anonymous and confidential.Your conversations are safe and private. They are encrypted and not stored anywhere. You can end them anytime you want. How to Use HelpCASTHelpCAST is super easy to use and works on any device with a browser and a camera. Without a doubt, the biggest thing I've encountered in my journey in AR since 2011 is companies charging for views after a certain point. Development cost money. Content costs money. Do you really need to figure out how to budget for the unknown on top of that? Some companies will give you a safety net by getting you to pay a "base" view package cost that will "protect" you.We say too many people are getting squeezed at every turn. You can get millions of views and not have to worry about paying more.We engineered our CDN and server structure to be highly efficient so we are not passing on extra compute price to our creators. We simply don't think that is the path to be on - actually, we don't think - we know it isn't.I can't wait to see what you create!W
